The reason why woodies became popular in the surf scene is that people would take $50 and consider it a favor when you pull the rotting car out of their field.

Start lobbying hard, then. If there is enough interest, Chebby will build it.

Center console bong holder is optional, tho.

Might be interesting for beach patrol crews. Roving lifeguards often use well-outfitted trucks. Having those neoprene seats means cities/counties would save some annual maintenance costs on a vehicle that is going to get its interior wet VERY often.

Kinda sad they didn’t mention more about the nuts and bolts of the truck. Sure, it’s a collab with Hurley, but it’s halfway useless with the 2WD option on anything but the most hardpacked beaches. Here in Texas we’ve got powder soft sand. That truck would get stuck fast in the accesses it’s needed most: the ones without permanent lifeguard towers.

Not sure about other municipalities but San Diego always goes with the lowest bidder whenever they replace the Lifeguard motor fleet. As I recall they usually have pleather seating. They prominently brand them (currently Toyotas) which probably helps reduce the aquisition costs.

Texas beaches, from the water line to mean high tide, are considered public highways. And unless there’s been approval from the GLO to make a beach access pedestrian-only, vehicular traffic is allowed on our beaches (but not in the dunes). As a result, we’ve got several different agencies that patrol the beaches nearest me: City cops, county lifeguards, constables, sheriffs, Texas game wardens, US Fish & Wildlife Service, among others.

Just checked one of the sites for one of those agencies: they use tricked out F-150 SuperCabs with tumba burros (bull bars) and roof racks. But I’ve seen Dodge, Chevy and Toyota trucks out there, too. Considering that the starting price on one of those Ferds is in the low 30s, before all the retrofitting for emergency medical gear and whatnot, I’d say this Chevy could easily be a contender for LEOs and first responders.

It’s not like living near the beach is cheap, so maybe surfers do have money?
